Matthias Hutter - Composer

 

Born in Siegburg in 1967 Matthias Hutter received his first piano lessons at the age of six. At age 12 he wrote his first compositions. 

After high school and civil service in Cologne Matthias Hutter began his music studies at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Dusseldorf majoring in piano which he completed with the concert exam in 1997. 

The catalogue of works by Matthias Hutter includes pieces for various instruments and ensembles: chamber music, songs, orchestral music and choral music. 

Meanwhile, compositions by Matthias Hutter are played by artists all over the world, ia. in Germany, France, Taiwan, Greece, Mexico and the USA. In 2017, the magazine of the Greek Composers Association "ΠΟΛΥΤΟΝΟν" (Polytonon) dedicated a multi-page interview to him. 

Some of his works have been published by  Édition Commixtus and by  Aulos Verlag.

Matthias Hutter has won several prizes and awards, 

Already as a child he won with his "Bläserfantasie" a shared (1st) prize in the composition contest "New Music for Children and Young People", organized by the Association of German Music Schools.
In January 2020 his Fantasy for piano and orchestra op. 40 was awarded the "Philharmonie Composition Prize" and premiered by the "Tübinger Studenten Philharmonie".
 At the 20th International Carl von Ossietzky - Composition Competition of the University of Oldenburg in 2021, Matthias Hutter won first prize with his "Visions in Light and Violet". 
In summer 2018 Matthias Hutter was awarded a prize at the 30th International Siegburg Composition Competition and at the online composition competition "21st Century Classical Music" he took second place, at the 4th International composition competition "Prof. Marin Goleminov - Michail Goleminov" 2023 Sofia (Bulgaria) his 5th Piano Sonata was awarded and will be performed in Sofia.

At the invitation of the Goethe Institute in Guadalaja (Mexico), he will go on a concert tour to Mexico in March 2024 together with his viola partner and wife Mary Alvarado to premiere his Viola Concerto op. 74 and hold a workshop for composers.

Matthias Hutter is Chairman of the Philippsburg Concert Association and initiator of the "Philippsburg Chamber Orchestra Academy", which has been held annually since summer 2021.
